Friday 1st January Head-Clearing New Year's walk in the Black Country. Have the Christmas festivities and New Year's Eve excesses taken their toll? Why not join us on a refreshing walk to clear those cobwebs and start 2010 with a pleasant 6½ mile stroll with a friendly bunch of people through the pretty villages of Himley, Wombourne and Swindon. We will be walking on the railway and canal paths which may be a little muddy at this time of year. Make sure you have appropriate footwear! A late start of 12.00, midday, from Himley station. Parking should be available in the car park or on the road in Himley itself which is only 3 minutes walk away. Leader is Mark. Himley station is ¼ mile from Himley on the B4147 Dudley to Bridgnorth road, just off the A449. Closest post code DY3 4LN. Packed lunch advised, if you can face another turkey roll! Grid ref. 17th January Stourport on Severn and Hartlebury Common. We will walk along the banks of the Staffs and Worcs Canal and the River Severn. Could be a bit muddy. Chance of lunchtime snacking in Stourport. About 9 miles. Start at 11.00 from the car park off the B4193 about a mile E of Stourport on Severn. Leader is Rycharde. Grid ref. SO 827 715. Map |
